Fitzwater Deputy Director for Administration SUBJECT: Weekly Report for Period Ending 30 April 1982 1. Progress reports on tasks assigned by DCI/DDCI: On 26 April, the Office of Security forwarded an interim report on its investigation of the circumstances surrounding the apparent loss of classified documents forwarded to DIA; a final report will be submitted on or about 14 May. (U/AIUO) 2. Items/events of major interest: c. Members of the Consolidated SAFE Project Office (CSPO) held a conference during 27-29 April to discuss SAFE program issues; CSPO managers and the Deputy Director, Office of Data Processing will be visiting the TRW SAFE Development Facility in Torrance, California during the week of 3 May. A meeting of the Agency Contract Review Board, held on 28 Aril involved the approval of co which included 25 1 for a contract from NPIC to Corporation as part of the NPIC Development Program. During this reporting period, a three-member team from the Office of Security presented a trainin course on physical security to officials of the I I h. On 26/27 April, briefcase/package inspections were conducted at Headquarters resulting in the detection of ten incidents of apparent unauthorized removal of classified material. The incidents are currently under review for possible disciplinary action. (U) j. The eighth running of the Military Operations Training Course began ith 27 students enrolled (14 Army, 6 Air Force, 4 Navy, and 3 Marines). 25X1 I 1. The fourth running of the Career Trainee Development Program, with enrolled, began on 26 April. (U) m. On 23 April, the tenth running of the Introduction to Analysis Course was completed. As in previous runnings, the course highlights were the analytical writing exercises, oral briefings, and the creativity presentation. The segment on alternate analytical methods was also very popular even though the relatively inexperienced analysts had difficulty using a regression matrix in the Falkland Islands exercise. Their key judgments of the crisis were, however, close to those contained in a recently published Special National Intelligence Estimate. (U) 3.
