Directorate for Administration -Consolidated SAFE Office managers and DD/ODP will visit the TRW SAFE development facility in California this week. -The 26/27 April Headquarters briefcase/package inspections resulted in detecting 10 incidents of apparent unauthorized removal of classified material. Directorate for Operations Deputy Director for Science and Technology -Security surveys of Capitol Hill on 19 and 23 April reveal that Congress could be vulnerable to a technical audio operation; Office of Security will be provided final report. National Intelligence Council -NIO/Strategic Programs briefed James Schlesinger on the conclusions of NIE 11-3/8 to assist him in preparing for Congressional testimony on 30 April. -Assistant NIO/Latin America chaired an interagency seminar on 26 April on Salvadoran guerrilla vulnerabilities and how they might be exploited. General Counsel -The DoD authorization bill for FY-83 would require the Secretary of Defense to include DoD technology transfer control programs as a separate, identifiable budget item beginning with FY-84 and to report to Congress by 31 December 1982 on the adequacy of DoD technology transfer control programs. -Draft procedures implementing the Executive Order 12333 requirement to report violations of export control statutes are being circulated for comment. -Senator Durenberger has introduced a bill requiring two additional standards be met before an agency could withhold information from FOIA requests under the exemption for classified information. -On 4 May the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will mark up various bills that would restrict U.S. aid and/or intelligence activitiesF_ none are likely to pass. -The former spouses task force has reached general agreement on dealing with all of the concerns that had been raised by "the former spouses."
