SUBJECT: DDI Activity Report, 3 - 7 May 1982
DCI/DDCI-Assigned Tasks
EURA provided a review of attitudes and performance of the Papandreou
government at the request'of the DCI.
NESA provided an Iran-Iraq war update for the DCI.
OGI provided additional analysis to the DCI on European alternatives to Soviet gas
in response to a request from Under Secretary of State Buckley.
The IIM "The Technology Acquisition Efforts of the Soviet' Intelligence Services"
has been forwarded to C/NIC for final review prior to transmittal to the DCI.
SOVA responded to a letter Senator Symms of the Senate Foreign Relations
Committee sent to the DCI. Detailed answers were provided for three questions on
Soviet activity in Cuba.
Of Special Interest This Week
ALA prepared a written brief on the possibility of a new Mariel exodus for use by
Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs Enders.
ALA briefed the HPSCI on Guatemala and Mozambique.
EURA and ALA briefed six members of the SSCI on the Falkland Islands situauption.
They also briefed DDS&T top management to provide an overview which pointed
technical collection deficiencies.

ALA will bref?journalists Robert Novak and Gerald Seib on 13 May on Central
America.
EURA will brief staff members of the Senate Armed Services Committee on the
attitude of West European military and political leaders toward SALT II in 1979 and at
the present-time.
OGI will sponsor a seminar on tribalism in World Affairs.
OSWR is scheduled'to brief Commissioner the Nuclear Regulatory

OSWR is scheduled to brief the DD/INR this coming week on the technology
transfer problem.

The Directorate was involved in 4 briefings at all levels on the Hill this week.
