Fitzwater Deputy Director for Administration SUBJECT: Weekly Report for Period Ending 21 May 1982 1. Progress reports on tasks assigned by DCI/DDCI: A second interim report regarding the investigation of the apparent loss of classified documents sent to the DIA was forwarded by the Office of Security on 17 May 1982; a final report will be submitted on or about 11 June. (U/AIUO) 2. Items/events of major interest: b. Secretary of the Army John 0. As part of our continuing records reduction program, 240 feet of material was transferred by the Office of Information Services to the hammermill for destruction. (U) j. The move of the Public Affairs Branch, Office of External Affairs to the 7 B corridor was completed on 17 May. k. On 12 May, a briefcase/package inspection was conducted at Headquarters resulting in the detection of six incidents of apparent unauthorized removal of classified material. The incidents are currently being reviewed for possible disciplinary action. (U) X1 m. Employee response to the documentary film, "The KGB Connection," shown in the auditorium on 17 and 18 May was very high; approximately 2,000 employees attended the showings. Additional showings are scheduled for 3 June. (U) n. The second running of the Industrial Security Seminar was held at Headquarters on 20 - 21 May. (U) o. The Deputy Director for Administration (DDA) briefed Mr. Jim Bush of the HPSCI Staff on 20. May regarding the SAFE Project. (U) 3. Significant events anticipated during the coming week: b. On 25 May, the DDA and representatives from the Office of Logistics will meet with GSA officials at Headquarters. (U) c..
