AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

On behalf of my colleagues on the Export Adminis-
tration Subcommittee of The President's Export
Council, I would like to express our appreciation
for your attendance at our May 26 luncheon. Your
review of the problems inherent in technology trans-
fer between the Western nations and the Eastern Bloc
has created additional impetus for the Subcommittee's
work on the many complicated facets of the entire
export control issue. In our view, the inefficiencies
and contradictions that are part of any large bureau-
cratic system often obscure true priorities in the
course of daily work. Streamlining the export license
process can assist in diverting important resources
and expertise to monitoring and controlling those
technologies and commodities that are truly critical
to the United States national security.
I would like to express my personal recognition of
your 30 years of government service, and I am certain
that your new career will be as oustanding as your
previous one.
