Dear Mr. Casey:
Recently, considerable controversy has arisen in our city con-
cerning the value of foreign language education in the public
schools.
Consequently, I am taking the liberty of writing you to request
your personal views on the importance of foreign language edu-
cation within the framework of public education.
Sir, I would greatly appreciate your views on this particular
question as I am sure that from your vantage point there are
factors concerning foreign language which are not apparent to
the average citizen.
