SUBJECT: Telephone Call from Senator Laxalt~s Offi
RE~~ARKS: This morning a Sam Ballenger from
Senator Laxalt~s office called to request
classified CIA information on El Salvador.
Particuarly, Ballenger said the Senator was
interested in particulars on Cuban involvemen
in El Salvador, i.e. troops/advisors in the
country with the guerillas, Cuban training an
support to the guerillas in bases outside
El Salvador, etc. Ballenger said the Senator
initially would prefer reviewing CIA classifie
info; if at later date he wants an oral briefi
he will so request one. Ballenger went on to
that there's much concern about U.S. policy in
El Salvador and the Senacb~r wants as many part~.e
as possible -- to better understand the r~,al
situation in El Salvador.
