Over the past few months the Agency has been indis-.
pensable in giving us all a better picture of the future of
Western European gas requirements. Time and time again my
staff has been in touch with your people to ask them to provide
an analysis on very short notice. The product has always been
technically sound and very well presented.
Now it appears we will need your assistance again. I
would be most appreciative if the Agency could investigate the
current state of play of possible Soviet licensing arrangements
with European firms to produce the GT-M25*turbine, as well as
other pipeline/energy alternative-related issues.
This will be most useful to the work of a new interagency
group I have set up to monitor and provide guidance on these
matters. I look forward to working closely with Harry Rowen as
a key member cf the group.
Finally, I have learned that is the individual
responsible for the excellent efforts I spoke of. I would be
grateful if you could convey my personal appreciation to him,
while warning him that we plan to keep. him very busy over the
coming months.
