Under Secretary of Commerce Lionel Olmer recently went out of his way
to praise CIA coverage of Japanese trade and commercial issues. He said
our material was frequently critical to negotiations and deepened US
understanding of Japanese policy. Please make sure that the case officers
and analysts responsible for this fine performance are made aware of Olmer's
remarks.
