We are concerned because we are being hurt so badly. Here's another example: French Wheat Sales to USSR Local Market Price, Rouen ---------------------- $5.20 per bushel (This is strongly influenced by the EC intervention (support price of $5.12 per bushel) EEC Export Subsidy ----------------------------- $1.96 Net Approximate Price Paid by USSR ------------- $3.24 U.S. Wheat (Soft Red Winter) CIF Rotterdam (No snhsidy) ------------------- $3.51 w Please note that the French have sold the USSR around 1 million tons of wheat since October 1. We have sold none. The subsidy on these sales is roughly two-thirds the price our farmers are currently receiving for their wheat, a fact they resent. Sincerely, John .. ? .,.iock 'secretary. cc: All SIG Members ~ Jot referred to USDA. \/ l i ?er .::lies. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY WASHINGTON, D. C. 20250 DCI EXEC REG
