SUBJECT Responses To HAC Questions For The Record - FY 81 Supplemental
1. HAC Defense Subcommittee staff, pressed to prepare for markup
on the FY 81 Defense Supplemental, asked for and received extraordinary
service in the handling of the transcript and answers to questions for the
record from the 8 April hearing.
2. Director, Intelligence Community Staff and Director, Program and
Budget Office, ICS, testified before the subcommittee from 1330 till 1500
on Wednesday, 8 April. As markup was scheduled to begin at 1000 the next
morning, staff asked that the transcript and the answers to questions for
the record be provided before that time.
3. Office of Security escorts stayed with transcribers from the House
Reporting Office while the reporter's notes were typed up; the completed
transcript was delivered to the Security Duty Office late in the evening
of the 8th. Responsibility for answering the approximately 80 questions
was apportioned between CIA's Office of Comptroller and the Program &
Budget Office in ICS. A package incorporating all answers but one was
delivered to HAC staff at 0915 on the 9th. (The unanswered question, which
required DOD input) is being sent this afternoon.)
4. We have been advised informally that the Defense Subcommittee
adjourned after less than an hour's meeting, postponing the markup until
Monday, 27 April. Full Committee mark is scheduled for the 30th of April.
