SUBJECT Comments on Review of National Intelligence
Vol. 1, No. 2
1. This memorandum provides comments on the second issue
dated June 1975 of the Review of National Intelligence (RONI), prepared
by the Product Review Division of the Intelligence Community Staff.
This publication will be scheduled for USIB discussion at an early date.
2. This issue is an improvement over its forerunner. There
appears to be more balance in the substantive presentations. It is
encouraging to note that PRD has received comments and letters
regarding past articles and has taken the trouble to point out
differences of opinion among analysts. However, more work needs
to be done to solicit consumers' views on the quality of the intelligence
product.
3. On balance this publication provides a useful vehicle to
critique the intelligence coverage in certain publications and should
be continued. Now that RONI is established there would appear to be
little need for USIB discussion each time an issue hits the streets.
