SUBJECT: Dulles Papers
5 January 1972
1. On 3 January 1972, I talked to Deputy 25X1A9a
Chief, Support Services Staff, concerning the ultimate disposition
of the Dulles papers.
2. I told that I had tentatively committed our
Office to holding the papers until the end of June 1972. This
commitment was made during a conversation with Professor
Howard Ehrmann. I told him of my previous contact with
Commanding Officer, OSS, as it related to the OSS
material contained in the Dulles papers and the fact that we had.
agreed that those papers would remain as a part of the "Dulles
files" at least for the time being.
3. was in complete agreement with the action
taken thus far and agreed that the papers should, eventually be
forwarded- He stated that the Agency is presently giving
considerable attention to the establishment of a CIA archives
under the supervision of a professional archivist. He said that a
determination as to whether or not there will be a formal archives
will be made within the next few months. He feels that the papers
under discussion would certainly, logically be a part of such a
collection. concluded that he would personally like to
take a look at the papers in order to get a feel as to their contents.
