SUBJECT : Status Report of Security and CI Recommendations of
the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board
1. Would you please prepare for the Director's signature a
reply to the attached request from McGeorge Bundy for a status report
on security/counterintelligence recommendations made by the
President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board. The request
technically calls for four different replies: two joint reports, one from
Mr. McCone in his capacity as DCI, and one from Mr. McCone as
Chairman of USIB. I believe all of these could be grouped as attach-
ments to a simple covering letter addressed to Mr. Bundy and the
Board.
2. Please coordinate as necessary with DD/P components
(CI, Cover) interested in individual recommendations such as numbers
11 and 14. You may wish to sidestep Recommendation 16, which seems
to be primarily State's business.
3. So that we may meet Mr. Bundy's deadline of 31 July, may
we have your reply by 24 July?
