A. Contracted remodeling of the Operations Building
was completed 15 November. Other internal im-
provements, especially the installation of indi-
vidual monitoring booths, were completed by the
Engineering Staff.
B. The former support office, queried from Washington
about recent demonstrations and developments
related to Canal Zone negotiations, advised its
Headquarters to reL4y on the FBIS Panama Bureau's

B. At the request of John W. Fisher, Counselor,
American &nbassy, Tegucigalpa, all monitored
items from Honduras are sent by wire to the
Embassy.
A. Auditors checked Bureau financial records and
expressed satisfaction with methods and controls.
No changes were deemed necessary. .

I. Reception: Local atmospherics decreased appreciably
by month-end. A new Vee antenna moderately improved
reception from central South America.
r~ II. Antennas: Vee and Beverage Wave antennas were completed
and the log periodic assembled for mounting. Additional
transformers are needed for Beverage Wave antenna bi-
directional reception. A locally borrowed transformer
is not giving expected results from Central America and
a suitable transformer will be orderr/from Headquarters.
III. Cruising: Eight cruising reports were sent to
twenty-nine news alerts were reported to editors from.
sources not on regular coverage schedules.
1. Power: 95.5 hours due to a cable break at Howard
Air Force Base.
2. Telephone and teletype: 7 hours when the crew
repairing the power cable accidentally cut the
communications lines.

II. The Bureau maintained special watches in connection with
the overthrow of the Bolivian government, the crisis in
the Brazilian state of Goias, and Panamanian student un-
rest over treaty negotiations with the United States.
III. Air Force Intelligence requested notification in case of
attacks on U. S. Air Force installations anywhere in the
world. The request was prompted by the attack on an
installation in South Vietnam.
