Die nachfolgende Zusammenstellung von Bildern gibt einen
gedrangten Uberblick iiber die derzeitige Leistungsfahigkeit
des wiederaufgebauten Borsig-Werkes. Sie umfaBt einige
Aufnahmen aus den Fabrikationsstiitten sowie einige Bei-
spiele von neuerdings ausgefuhrten Lieferungen.
Die Borsig-Betriebe wurden im Jahre 1837, also vor nunmehr
116 Jahren, gegrundet. Das Unternehmen, das nach wie vor
eines der fijhrenden Industriewerke von Westberlin ist, hat
internationalen Ruf als eine der iiltesten und angesehensten
deutschen Maschinenfabriken.
In der Kriegs- und Nachkriegszeit sind die Werksanlagen
durch Kriegshandlungen und DemontagemaBnahmen sehr
schwer getroffen worden. Der Schadensumfang an Gebi:iuden
und technischen Einrichtungen betrug 80%, an Werkzeug-
maschinen sogar 100%. Die Gefahr einer zweiten Demontage
konnte erst im November 1949 endgiiltig mit dem Ergebnis
abgewehrt werden, daB im April 1950 der Betrieb der Werk-
stiitten wieder aufgenommen und der Wiederaufbau der
Werksanlagen begonnen wurde.
