II. - EXPENSES DURING YOUR VISIT TO FRANCE.
French exchange regulations authorize foreign travellers to enter any
amount of french or foreign currencies into the country. There is no limit to
the sum represented by cheques, travellers cheques, letters of credit issued in
francs or foreign currencies which you may import.
Exportation of french currency, when you leave the country, is authorized
up to a sum of 10.000 francs. On the other hand, foreign travellers are authorized
to reexport foreign currencies, cheques, letters of credit issued in francs or
foreign currencies which they had imported on their arrival.
III. - EXCHANGE OFFICE.
An exchange office, run by the Credit Industriel et Commercial, will be
available to you during the congress, for the payment or negociation of all
your letters of credit

OF HAEMATOLOGY

There is at present no British journal exclusively devoted to the
subject of haematology. As a result, important papers have been widely
scattered in a number of different publications which makes the specialist's
task of keeping abreast of current literature arduous if not impossible.
The BRITISH JOURNAL OF HAEMATOLOGY will bring under one
cover papers dealing with all aspects of haematology, and will thus be
of substantial benefit to all workers in this and allied fields.
Full details may be obtained from the publishers. whose repre-
sentative will be available during the Congress.

PUBLISHING COMMITTEE
? Active members will receive :
10 A volume containing the program of congress and the summaries of
all reports and communications.
20 The reports, as published by French journals of hematology in special
issues.
? The Publishing Committeee hopes to be able to arrange in the same way,
after the Congress, for the publication of communications.
? Authors of reports are urged to send in their papers, with summaries,
as early as possible. Authors of communications need send in only summaries
in advance, but they are also requested to do so at the earliest moment possi-
ble. The following rules apply
Language : English or French.
Length : Summaries of reports : 3000 letters, signs, intervals.
Summaries of communications : 1000 letters, etc.
Texts of reports : 20 pages of 3000 letters, etc.
Texts of communications : 4 pages of 3000 letters, etc.
The texts of communications only may be handed in at the opening of
the Congress. (Reports must be sent in in advance.)
Accepted papers will be presented- according to their subject-matter -
either at the morning sessions or during the afternoon discussions.
Because of the large number of papers which have been announced and
of the difficulty of publishing them, the Congress Comittee urge authors to
deal only with recent work, not previously covered at the Society's interna-
tionai,mcetings. Briefness would also be greatly appreciated.

SCIENTIFIC EXHIBITION
SEPTEMBER 6 - 20 1954

The Congress Committee is also in charge of the Scientific Exhibition,
which will be open to all Congress members.
The Scientific Exhibition of the Fifth International Congress of Hematology
will remain open until the end of the Fifth International Congress of Blood
Transfusion, i.e. until September 20.
All exhibits will thus be returned to their authors/only after September
20, either throng the good offices of the Congress Committee or in accordance
with the authors' wishes, as agreed with the Committee.
Purpose of the Exhibition: to explain and illustrate, by means of tables,
diagrams, statistical data, X-ray films, photogrphs and any other material,
any hematological subject, as presented in a report or communication, or any
topical problem or the work of any center of hematological reseach.
The Exhibition is intended to provide a worth-wille meeting-ground for
the exhibitors and other workers in the same field.
Organization : 10 Within the limits of the available space, exhibitors will
be provided with on or more stands of various dimensions, according to their
requirements and the subject-matter involved ; all exhibits will be subject
to the acceptance of the Congress Committee, which will also decide on the
space to allocated to each. The stands available are all 2 meters high, and 2,
3.5 or 4 meters long.
21 A limited number of negatoscope are available on request ; electricity
will also be supplied if needed.
Registration : Applications must be sent in by July 25, 1954 at the latest
and should be addressed to the Secretary of the Scientific Exhibition (see
Card III).
Exhibitors are requested to state whether:
a) their exhibit will be delivered ready for presentation
b) or will have to be assembled on the spot ;
c) or whether its presentation will be entrusted entirely to the Congress
staff.
For all exhibits delivered ready for presentation (Class a), a sketch or
photo will be required. All such exhibits should reach the Sorbonne in Paris
before Saturday September 4, when the Congress opens. Should this be impos-
sible, exhibitors who intend to bring their panels with them ar requested to
notify the Congress Committee of the date of their arrival.

Le Comite d'Organisation du Congres a pris l'initiative d'unc Exposi-
tion Scientifique, qui se tiendra dans les locaux memes du Congres.
L'Exposition Scientifique realisee par le 5e Congres International d'He-
matologie restera exposee pendant la duree du V'? Congres International de
Transfusion Sanguine, qui lui fait immediatement suite, c'est-a-dire jusqu'au
20 septembre.
En consequence, les expositions scront renvoyees a leurs auteurs a
Tissue du Congres International de Transfusion Sanguine, par les soins du
Congres d'Hematologie, on suivant les dispositions particulieres decidees
on accord aver les autcurs.
Cette Exposition est ouverte a tons les participants an Congres.
But : Presenter sous forme didactique et iconographique : tableaux, dia-
grammes, statisti(ues, images radiographiques, documents..., illustrant un
rapport, une communication, une question d'actualite hematologique on
1'activite d'un Centre d'Hematologic.
Cette Exposition Scientifique commentcc sera l'occasion de rencontres
et de contacts fructueux aver les exposants.
Organisation. - 10 Les exposants pourront disposer, dans la limite des
places disponibles, d'un on plusieurs stands do dimensions variables suivant
lour dernande, 1'importance du sujet ct apres decision du Comite du Con-
gres : la hauteur est uniforme, soit 2 in. La longueur est variable : 2 m X
2in50,2 m X 3 m50,2m X 4m...
20 Des negatoscopcs on nombre limite seront mis It la disposition des
autcurs et sur demande prealahlc, do meme qu'une possibilite de branche-
ment d'installation electrique.
Delais : Les inscriptions a 1'Exposition Scientifique devront parvenir
avant le 25 juillet, an plus tard, au Secretariat do 1'Exposition Scientifique,
an moyen do in carte III.
Realisation : 11 est indispensable de preciser lc caractere de la reali-
sation :
a) Le stand sera premonte.
b) Montage du stand a effectuer sur place.
c) Realisation du stand confie aux services techniques du Congres.
Une maquette on une photo sera demandee pour tout stand premonte
(categorie a). Les stands premontes devront parvenir an Congres avant le
samedi 4 septembre, date do la seance inaugurale. En cas d'impossibilite, et
si I?auteur est accompagne do son stand, le Congres lui sera reconnaissant
do preciser la date de son arrivee.

Exhibitors who wish to supervise the assembly of their panels on the
spot (Class b) are also requested to inform the Congress Committee of the
date of their arrival in Paris in order to enable the organizers of the exhibi-
tion to make whatever preparations are required.
Because of the large number of exhibits alveady announced which will
have to be assembled on the spot, and in order to make sure that they will
be properly presented and matched, the Congress Committee strongly urges
all exhibitors to send in their material, if possible, in advance and together
with a diagram showing how it should be assembled and presented. The
Congress staff will be responsible for assembling each exhibit in accordance
with its author's instructions.
Languages : The Congress Committee would appreciate bilingual texts
or summaries being used for all exhibits. Any written material should be
preferably in both English and French, or in another language together with
either English or French. Material in either English or French only will also
accepted, but not texts written in another language only.
Publications : Publication rights for all the material exhibited are
reserved by the Congress Committee, subject to the exhibitor's agremeent

Special attention will be devoted at the Congress to films on research
and espcially to micro-films. All films on general cytology and on special
cytology of the blood will be welcome. They hope that every member will
contribute to the success of this section of the Scientific Exhibition.

Langues. - Les organisateurs du Congres se permettent de recomman-
der les textes on resumes bilingues Francais-Anglais, autre languc-Francais
on autre langue-Anglais. Les textes monolingues Anglais on Francais seront
acceptes. Les textes ne comportant ni Francais, ni Anglais, ne pourront @tre
acceptes.
Publication : Le Comite du Congres se reserve le droit de publier; aver
1'accord des auteurs, les expositions presentees dans le volume eventuel des
communications, on lcs publications du Congres.
SECTION FILMS SCIENTIFIQUES
Les organisateurs du V' Congres International out decide de Bonner une
place importante aux films de recherche et d'enseignement.
Ils desireraient en particulier que la inicrocinematographic soit large-
ment representee par de nombreux films. Ceux de Cytologic generale y
seraient acceptes aussi bien que ceux de Cytologic sanguine. Un appel est
done adresse aux chercheurs afln qu'ils apportent lour precieuse contribu-
tion a la realisation de cc projet.

ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAM
Tuesday September 7th :
Dinner at the Chateau de Versailles.
By special permission, the Congress Committee has been privileged
to arrange for a dinner to be given at the Chateau itself reserved for
members of the Congress; small tables will be set for this event, -which
will replace the traditional banquet.
An unusual stereophonic and floodlighted show will be presented,
reviving at the touch of a wand the past glories of Versailles.
Guests who wish to visit the famous K petits appartements > will be
given the opportunity before dinner.
Subscription: Frs 4.000 per person. Number of seats limited.
Thursday September 9th :
Visit of the Louvre Museum by night, by courtesy of the Congress
Committee.
Friday September 10th:
Evening reception at the hotel de Rohan-Soubise, given by the Pre-
disent of the Congress, the the Secretay-Treasurer and the members of
the Congress Committee. Music, costumes and setting of the past.
Evening dress preferred, if convenient.
Saturday September 11th :
Excursions to the Chateaux de la Loire, floodlighhted.

III) REDUCED FARES ON FRENCH RAILWAYS :
Congress members are entitled to a 20 % reduction on their French
railway fares, for tickets ordered through any Wata agency. Railway tickets
issueld to members at the special reduced rate are good for a sufficiently long
period to allow then to attend the Fifth International Congress of Blood
Transfusion (September 13-20).
