Torpedo Training
1. "On 1 June 53 the Second Brigade of Torpedo Cutters started torpedo
attack exercises at battle distances in the Moonsund between the
islands of Hiiumaa and Saaremaa. The cutters came from Kaliningrad and
c'ra'ried the numbers 70-100.
2. "At Kaliningrad there is a 'School of Torpedo Shooting' for torpedo
boat personnel of the Baltic Fleet. In winter the sailors take a
six-month shooting course-in the 'torpedo cabinets' of the school.
Nakhimov Naval Cadet School
3. "The Nakhimov Naval Cadet School, on Castle Square in Riga, admitted
new pupils between 20 and 30 June 53. Every year ]A0 new pupils are
admitted. The school has six companies. The course takes six years.
The total number of cadets is 800-820.
4. "Entrance qualifications are difficult. Applicants must be children of
parents who lost their lives in the Great Fatherland War (World War II).
They must be between 11 and 12, have passed four years of elementary
school and be healthy enough to endure naval service. They must present
the following documents:
