1. The Sao Paulo State Governor reports that work on roads will amount to about
CR$ one billion during 1953. The double lanes to Santos and Campinas will
be finished by July 195,., and work is progressing on some 1,682 kilometers
of roads in the Interior. An asphalt road is being built between Santos and
Curityba along the seacoast, and will in two or three years open this banana
and tea district by providing better transportation, which at present is
supplied by only an antiquated narrow-gauge railroad.
2. In Para, a new highway, linking the two towns of Vigia and Sao Caetano de
Odivelas, is rapidly being completed.
