While I was in Germany (Federal Republic), I bad the opportunity of talking
to the son of some old friends of mine. He had been a prisoner of war in the
USSR for six years. He told me that when he was on his way back to Germany
(Federal Republic) from the USSR in 1951, he saw at a railroad junction
between standard gauge railroad tracks and Soviet broad gauge railroad tracks,
square miles of machinery and equipment uncovered and rusting in the open
fields. I do not remember the exact location of this railroad junction.
