The prefecture of Korce is divided into the following et (sub-prefecture):
BILISBT, LESKOVIQ, POGRADEC, ERSEKE, The Executive Committee for the ARK of
Korce(prefectibre) is in he town of Korce. In the same town is the C.P. Committee
for the prefebure of Korce. In every one of the a/m towns there is an Executi-
ve and A C.P. committee which are subordinate to the Committee of Korce.

2. - Education
a)Eh School in Shtika
In Shtike operates an elementary school(4 grades) for the pupils of the villa-,
ges SHTIKE and BUTKE (W-994357). There are about 40 pupils from both village

has graduated they,-grades Polytechnic of SHKODER. In the a/m Polytechnic
are accepted graduates-, of the UNIKE.

In the village of SHTIKE live 68 families. Out of them s 61 are Christians
(Orthodox) and 7 Moslem. Since 1954, peple are free to express their reli-
gious sentime*t, but in spite of that only the old-aged used to go to the

in the village and a priests who officiates regularly.

State Hospital in ERSEKE
In Erseke there is a State Hospital with 20 beds. The hospital has one doctor
5 nurses( 3 females and two males) and a manager in charge of the administra-
tive work. Medical examination is free. For each day of medical treatment
in this hospital are required 170 - 190 leks for a persono
Only resourceless persons furnished with a certificate of poverty signed
by the Chairman of the People's council, and approved by the Executive
Committee, are entitled to receive free mdical treatment in the hospital.

~nce late in L955 the Albanian propaganda favors TITOj,
while before the Albanian Communists were against TITO. Thus the secretary
of the Communist Organizata Baze spoke to his fellow-vil-
lagers and said that TITO returned to Soviet Policy and became again a friend
of the Albanian People.
MORALE
6.- Morale of the Albanian People
The morale of the Albanian People is vet low. The economic misery and the terro-
rise which the Communist rune has imposed to the People, as well as the
fact that theydon't see how they can get rid of its create fear and disappoint-
memtp and on the other hand theyhave accepted the regime with fatalism.

on the contrary they Insider the war as the only way for them to get rid of
the present regime. It is prohibited to listen fbreign radio stations except
broadcasts of the sattelite cantries.
7. -Moral Status
The fb flowing employees of the government taxation office(in charge of the colle
ction of meat)fd+r the area of Erseke abused 1.800.000 leks in 1952.

Qerim was sentenced to death and was executed(shot).Josif ATIANI was condemned'
to 2 years, and Mitsos was declared intent because he worked for the Si.
Resistance against the Regime
8. Foreign Resistance
On Dec. 29, 1955, at night, and unknown airplane dropped packages containing
razors, soap, thread and needles, etc, as well as leaflets of anti-Comm ni st
contents, throughout the area of Wseke. After an order of the Sigurimi all the
packages and leaflets fount- by the people were handed over to the Si mi?

A cooperative has not been created het in the village or antiike*
it will be created in Sept. 1956. The farmers worked privately. 25X1
Lands were confiscated for rich people and were distrubuted to the farmers wb
had no land at all. The taxation is as follows:
The followhg taxes are required for each strema(+ of an acre) of cultivated land:
Seven kgs of wheat, 2,5 kgs of meat, 2,5 eggs, 375 grams of wool, and 5000 leks
(profit tax) for each 25 stremas(this em is not always the same).
The profit tax is imposed according to the political attitude of each person.
Each farmer is obliged to hand over tothe government 60% of his total production
in a price fixed by the government. The taxation is the same for o4aW'& lands
cultivated for wheat and maize. Early in 1956 the farmers were ordered to.atop
cultivating mai ze. In case that some onewants to cultivate maize he will have
to pay the same taxes as if he bad cultivated wheat. The a/m taxation is imposed

to the villages where the land is considered 4th category.

The ration cards for clothing were abolished early in Jan. 1956.Now the people

ROAD C0241 ICATIONS
1.- Construction of a new road
In Sept. 1952 begun the constuction of a road connecting the village of VLOCISHTE
(QN-031625) with the village of POJAN(QN-120672).The road follows a direction
300 m. N. of the village CIFLIK(QN-068625), 500 m. W. of the village TEROVE(
and E. of the village PEND&VINJ(QN-112648). Theroad is 8 mo wide and it is paved
with gravel and sand

road was completed .ate in 1953. Prisoners from the prison of Korce., persons who
were subject to forced-labor in order to pay-off their taxes and salaried
laborers, had been used in this construcion.

The Communication between Erseke and Korce is serviced by a government bus.
This is a 45 seats Check bus type SKODA.

Until late in 1955 theme cost of the ticket was 45 lek. Early in Jan. 1956
the price went up to 55 lek.

Hydro-electric Stations
a).Hvdro-electric station in SHTIKE
Early in April 1954 begun the construction of a hydro-electric station
at a position located near the water mill(4$4-4833 68).The construction was
completed on Nov. 29, 1954. The slid station was built to supply the villa-
ge of Shtike with electricity. Etch family of the village was required to
give 3.000 leks and 40 days of work. The installation of the machinery was
carried out under the supervision of an engineer (name un-
known) from the area of Gjinokaster.

a)Village of SHTIKE
Subject village has about 68 houses and a total of about 380 inhabitants.
Out of the 380 inhabitants, 38 are Moslems and the rest Christians.
A hydro-electric station constructed in 1954 supplYs the village with
electricity.The payment of the electricity is as follows:
A house with one electric bulb only pays 50 leks per month.
When the house has 2 bulbs(lamps) is required to pay 60 lek per month.
If a house has more than 3 lamps is required to pay 5 lek for every addi-
tional lamp.
