The 3. h. 6. The Brigade had the following means of transportation: 101 trucks, 1 Soviet ;Jeep forte commanding officer, 2= motorcycles, and 7 mules and horses. During movements of tie Brigade about 20 mules are given to each of the battalions, The arti;.iery battalion and the mortar unit have vehicles similar to the ones described above, 50X1-HUM T CONTROL SECURITY INFORMATION total strength of the Brigade was 895 men. Most of the Scutari Brigade was quartered in barracks located about 100 meters north of Scutari opposite the civilian hospital on the western side of Zalkirit Street. The barracks consisted of six buildings, five of which were constructed by Zog's regime, The barracks were lighted with 50X1-HUM electricity brought from the powerplant in Scutari. About 200 meters northwest of these barracks there was a building which housed the artillery unit, the automatic weapons company, the engineer company, the communications company, and the reconnaissance platoon. About 10 meters east of the building there is a building which houses the kitchen. These two buildings make up the Skender Bea Barracks. the followin concerning the armament of the Brigade: a. Artillery Battalion, di.d not know the number of guns it had, but saw 1 covered guns near the Skender Bej Barracks where the Battalion was quartered, 50X1-HUM b. Mortar Unit, saw several of c. them being loaded on mules when the Brigade went from Scutari to Koplik, Automatic Weapons Company, It was equipped with six Soviet 7.62 moms sub- d, machine guns, PPSH 1911. Engineer Company. Each member of the company was armed with a Soviet M 1891/30?7.62 m.m. rifle. e, The Communications Company, the Quartermaster Company and the Candidate Officer Company were arced the same as the Engineer Company. About 300 meters south of Viroit Spring and 600 meters west of the road connecting Gjinokaster with Tepelene there was a large single story building which was used as the ammunition duap of the Scutari Brigade. S.. OFFICIALS O" SECURITY INFORMATION 7. The 2 Infantry Battalion of the Scutari Brigade had the following units a. Staff TIT-Commanding Officer-First Lieutenant (sic) Vet Alia (2) Political Commissar-First Lieutenant Menelao Limosi (3) Adjutant-First Lieutenant Tefik Ruci Two infantry companies. Captain Class "B1 Bekir Isa was the Cc-mnanding Officer of the 1 Infantry Company, and:Seeond Lieutenant Selman (lnu) was the Commanding Officer of the 2 Infantry Company. c. Mortar Company. Commanded by a first lieutenant. There are two platoon leaders who are warrant officers. d. Machine Gun Company. Commanded by a first lieutenant. There are two platoon leaders who are warrant officers. a. Anti-tank squad, which consists of seven soldiers lead by a warrant officer and a sergeant. Anti-aircraft machine run squad, which consists of nine soldiers commanded by a master sergeant. g, Engineer squad, which consists of six soldiers commanded by a warrant officer. h. Squad of telephone operators, which consists .of three soldiers, a sergeant and a master sergeant. 8. The two rifle companies, the engineer squad, and the squad of telephone operators were equipped with Soviet M1891 0 7.62 m.m0 rifles. Each rifle Company also had four (one for each squad) sub-machine guns. The machine gun 50X1-HUM squad was equipped w!th four Maxim 7.62m.m,`11910 machine guns. The mortar company had four Soviet mortars two of which were drawn on carriages. the mortars used by the mortar companyvare smaller than, those used 50X1-HUM by the. mortar unit of the Brigade. The anti-tai k squad had two Soviet PTRS 3.941 14,5'm.m, gunsb The squad of telephone operators of the 2 Infant Battalion had three Soviet TI.IR telephones and 19200 meters of wire. The telephones of this 50X1-HUM squad were used only during maneuvers to provide communications between the battalion commander and the company commanders, Telephones for communication between the brigade commander and the battalion commander were provided by the communications company of the Brigade. To carry out the maneuver the Brigade went on foot from Koplik, whereat was stationed for the summer, to the maneuver area. The trip lasted about 13 hours. The maneuvers, including the time required for the march to and from the maneuvers area, lasted five days. All of the Brigade,. except for abouta company which was left to guard the summer camp, took part in the maneuvers. The Brigade Commanding Officer, 11. In the above maneuvers the squad of telephone operators 12, the Scutari Brigade conducted an attack maneuver50X1-HUM in the same area with the same number of troops. The engineer company and the 1 Company of the 2 Battalion manned the "enemy" positions. The maneuver was lead by the Brigade Commanding Officer and was again observed by the Soviet Solonel. The maneuver was not completed, but was stopped on the second day because there were four casualties among the soldiers of the engineer company. a sergeant from Vlons in the I Company, with other 50X1-HUM Brigade with the battalion commanders, and the commander of the communications company and the transportation section. nationalists in his group, found an opportunity during the maneuvers to bayonet four Communists in the engineer company. B.. Barracks and Warehouses Near Kolsh .La a rracK , w1la IV L. e 31 Infantry Regiment was quartered,, are located 50X1-HUM 300 meters south of Kolsh on the road connecting Koish with Kukes. The barracks I%Q.L5n Da consist of five single-story buildings which were constructed.in 1950. The bar- racks are lighted with kerosene` lamps. lit, Two hundred meters south of Kolsh on the road connecting with Kukes there are three single-story buildings, each 20 by 10 meters, which were constructed by Regiment and one was used to house a Border ward unit. There was barbed wive on the southern side of the buildings only., The two food warehouses were guarded by art infantry platoon.
