the war, the government made the greatest efforts to industrial-
ize the country, neglecting agriculture.
With the attempt to industrialize the country, many
peasants have voluntarily left the farms, while others were
forced to do so.

elementary equipment.

7fbeing planned is the electrification of the railroad
from the station, whose location is indicated in margin, to
a place called Pedine which is located
about 4 kilometers to the east.
On the railroad line between Susak and Pecine there is the Brajdica
tunnel, whose length is 1,888 meters. The train has great difficulty
in passing through this tunnel because the smoke produced by the
locomotive and the adverse air current obstruct visibility.
In ~kpril, 1952 a commission of five or six technicians from Lubiana
was brought to this place to make the necessary corrections.

mentioned stretch of track was approved by the directors of the
Zagabria railroad,and the work should begin during the month
of June, 1952.
Miscellaneous
In general, the railroad from Fiume to Srpske Moravice is in good
condition, except for approximately 200 meters of track located
about 500 meters before arriving at the station of Srpske Moravice.
On that stretch of track the train must proceed very slowly, because
of the sinking ground occasioned by floods, which were caused by the
frequent rains of that area.
For two or three years, work has been under way to prevent the
ground from sinking, but this has been unsuccessful up to now.
