1. Zeiss Jena is short of potentiometers needed for the construction of the
79 A-1 aerial training devices which are scheduled for' delivery to the
Russians early in August 1952. At present, Zeiss has only 30 percent of
the quantity of potentiometers needed to complete the order. There is no
firm in the DDR which is capable of supplying the potentiometers.
2. Zeiss has cantaeted the Rosenthal firm in Selb1, Bavaria, for the dielivery
of potentiometers. In 1951, Rosenthal delivered to Zeiss the potentiometers
needed for 200 A-I devices. The Rosenthal firm,notified Zeiss that the
potentiometers required at present by Zeiss would be supplied upon the
receipt of a down payment of 7,500 Deutsch Mark.
3. On 12 June 1952, the required down payment was made in Frankfurt/Main to
a representative of the Rosenthal firm. Rosenthal, is now engaged in manu-
facturing the potentiometers for Zeiss.
