German Democratic Republic FDD Abstract
DESCRIPTION OF A COMPRESSOR PRODUCED By K1
,LLE/SAALE (2 pp;
undated) 25X1A,,
25X1C This document is a report Zpresumably part of a catalogue, compiled by EKM
(Federation of People-Owne n rprises forthe Construction of Powei Plant Machinery and
Motors) in Halle/Saale, which gives a detailed, technical description of the low-pressure
reciprocating compressor, model 521.301/2.
The compressor is used to supply coin.ressed air in foundries, ore and coal mines, ship-
yards, workshops, etc. It has a capacity cf 2L.0 cubic meters per hour at a final maximum
pressure of 6 atm. The compressor is a single-stage, two-cylinder, stationary, air-cooled
model, 11 Xi and is arranged in series. A detailed explanation is given of the individual parts,
and of the operation, lubrication, and regulation of the compressor. It is stated that the
advantages of the air-cooled compressor over-those which are water-cooled are: In an air-
cooled compressor, the highest degree of -perational safety is guaranteed, regardless of
place of installation, and a reduction of the cooling effect through pollution is impossible.
An air-cooled compressor is also reliable and does not require servicing at the lowest temper-
attires, since the danger of the cooling water becoming frozen is eliminated.
In addition to a photograph and a. diagram of different views of the compressor, the repor,
contains a table of dimensions and capacity, which gives figures on the machine as a whole
and on its individual parts.
