This document is an 1$-page typewritten copy of instructional pamphlets issued
by the Peoplefs Police office No, 32.2 in Burg, It consists of two parts each
describing a Soviet cannono
The first 12 pages give a very detailed technical description o~ the general data,
operation, maintenance, effectivenessi and use of the Soviet 76 millimeter cannon,
Model 191~2~ including
a) General data such as occasions where the gun is useful, (destruction of enemy
forees~ destruction of the enemy~s infantry and artillery fires destruction of
armored and motorized forces, destruction of barbed ware or mine obstacles, and
destruction of sma11 bunker installations) specifications of the gun (weight,
length of barrels, firing speed, firing range, etc.}~ and the type of armnunition
to be used for the various purposes
b} Description of the barrel, with breech plate and locking mechanismD
c) Description of the gun mounting,
d} Tnstructions for firing the gun,
The balance of the document deals with a technical description of the Soviet
122-millimeter howitzers Model 1938, The purposes for which this howitzer may best be
used are listed. They are:
1) Destruction of enemy infantry, exposed as well as behind cover
2) Destruction of enemy infantry weapons
3) Breaking through entrenchments and field bunkersi and removing barbed wire and
other obstacles
~.) Clearing paths through minefields
5) Fighting enemy artillery and vehicles,
Precise information is given on the performance and construction of the gun. The
gun mounting and its barrel with locking mechanisms as we11 as the recoil provisions on
this gun, are described in minute detail?
