On the Cheb-Chornutov and Breclav-13ol=.umin lines, traffic moves on the left-
hand track contrary to the system ir:. operation in all other parts of Czecho-
slovakia. The Litoiner-i co city sector of the Decin-IIavlickuv I3rod line is single-
track because : of the space restrict .ons in the city and because of a narrow
and obsolete railroad tunnel in Litemerice (r151/ib'S3 ), Although the embankment
on the Trebovico (P50/1127) -- Rudolt`.co (P50/r133) sector of the Cocl.a Trebova-
Prerov line was origin .l1y designed for two tracks, the second track was built
along a separate rrray in order to e1_'mina.te the curves. The new Strecno (0,50/x61)
tunnel sector of the Bratislava-;pi.ska Nova ",,'es line is single track at present.
The old tunnel is no longer used, bit it also contains a single track and could
be used in an emergency. The entixE line has been relaid along a straighter
course than. it previously followed. In 1949 the rails, tics and roadbeds were
repaired on the follozing lines:
Sebuzin (T151/I'44) - Libochovany (1152/4 3) sector of the Docin-Vicetaty line,
repaired T.iareh - August 1949.
Terazirl (N,l/r53) -- Firobce (1151/;,62 I sector of the Prague-Decin line, repaired.
September - October 1949.
Zadni Treban (14'50/L66) - 1.1ovnice OM 50/L66) sector of the Prague-Pilsen line,
repair. d September - November 1949.
Plans were completed in 1938 for a rain east-west railroad line to connect
Bohemia and Slovakia. Construction of the Havlickuv ?3rod-Brno sector of the
proposed line was given top priority since Ceska Trebova, an important junction
on the existing line, was located near the German border, and under the Litulich
agreement the. existing east-hest li.r : was actually out by cessions of territory
to Germany. After the war the plan aras apparently abandoned with the exception
of work on the IIavlickav Brod--Brno -,actor rrh:ich has been continued. IIorrever,
recent construction of large engine ,hods in Uhrinevos (051/L93) indicate that
the plan may be under consideration again as Uhrinoves was to be a major junction
on the new line bet-vm- ea Pr-ague and tidlec. As originally planned, the cast-
wst road was to run as follows:
