The bridge is a combined railroad and highway
bridge. The upstream section of the bridge, the former high-
way bridge, was entirely demolished and has not been re-
constructed. One of the two tracks on the railroad bridge
was dismantled and a plank floor for use as a temporary
roadway was laid. The remaining track is used by the
single-track Riesa-Elsterwerda trunk line which has branch
lines to Falkenberg and Dresden on the eastern bank of the
Elbe River. The entire bridge is 347 meters long. The
railroad section is about 4 meters wide; the roadway is
about 3,5 meters wide; and the sidewalk is about 1.5 meters
idde. The structure will carry heavy loads.
