Heitach, TNA Chief of Staff, announced that the purpose of the visit was to
provide an opportunity for the HVA officials to raeot the Soviet officer$

assist the de}aartme~ chiefs Sn thoir work.
20 Petrakovslci then proceeded to assign thx~e vffic?rs to ~k3itseh, three to
Chefinspekteur Rudolf Doelling~ bend of Hauptabteilung Polit/~Kultur three
to Chefinspekteur Fritz Koehn head of Abteilung Personal, three to ~hefinspek-
teur Hans ?Tulz, and three to ~hefinape~.~teur Hans von ~Teech, head of Hauptab~-
teilun~; Interdantur.
3. The regaining Russians were not assigned to any p~articu].ar department, but
apparently were ao~niaeioned to visit and inspect various sections.
4. One of the Soviet officers assigned to Hauptabtoilung Intendantur was Lt. Col.
~~evirov, who was intraduaed to the departr.~ertt personnel by yon :leach and Russian
General ~~alcarav. ilevirov was especial]y interested in the management of the
vehicle Section of the department.
5o The Saviats appeared to be particularly interested in the matter of security,
and Plevirov stated on one occasion that it had Dome to the attention of the
SKK that ~nfarr.~ation had leaked out which could on3y have cons from the Abtei-
lungen Verschlusasaehen of the PNA. H? did net specify the nature of the in-~
farr..~tion in question.
6., One of the results of the Soviet racam~ndations made during the inspection
tour was the decision to reduce the number of Abteilungen Verschlusssachen to
thrQaF one under Ileitsc}i, one under' van Tlaech and one under Doelling, thereby
supplanting the old system in which each Hauptabteilun~; had its own Abte~.Iung;
Verschlusssachen ~ a amore socure structure, rt was further recommended that
alI documents taken from those Abteilungen should be si/;ned for and returned by

7. Thra Russian officers left the HVA on 10 June 1950.
