SC_; The Eykman Institute (before the war known as Queen 4ilhelmina Institute) 11 The Eykman Institute, Orange Boulevard No, 69, Batavia-rC, administratively a division of the Department of Health, forms a part of the Medical Facul- ty of the University of Indonesia, In this connection it offers both graduate and under-graduate facilities to students. Post-graduate students do research in bacteriology, se a ,u l o}T and dietetics, Medical students preparing for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd professional examinations take their examinations in the Eykman Institute, In addition, the Fykman Institute approves the processes used in the Pharmaceutical Factory (Paberik Obat), Maggarai, Batavia. It is reported that S. Postmus.,U.D., present Director, took over Fykman Institute from Professor Djumhana kliradikarta and R. Karmawan by force in 1947. It is connected with the Red Cross in Indonesia and has an affilia- ted body, the Institute of Blood Transfusion and the "Blood Pool" at Kramat No. 101, which is open day and night and well guarded. Blood sera prepared at Eykman We transported to the Military Hospital at Hospitaalweg, to the fields covered by the I, TI, and III Brigades, guard battalions in Tangerang and some places in Bantam. Blood sera arealso transported by plane to the B and A Divisions in Middle and East Java, to brigade territory in Palembang,and Medan, to Borneo and East Indonesia when necessary, The Transfusion Service produces about 1000 kilograms of sera per month depending on the number of donations.
