About 2,000 war criminals are at present employed in the Tate bauxite
mines. These war criminals. are housed in five concentration camps, vie:
"Fekete-Negyed Tiz" (10)
"Fekete-Negred Tizenketto" (12)
"Fekete-Negred Tizenne(14)

2, The war criminals are composed of Hungarian officers, NCOa, and enlisted
men from Hungarian units who fought on the eastern front; officers and
enlisted men of the Ulinkova Garda (who tried to escape to Italy after
the capitulation); about a thousand Ukrainians from "Bandera" detachments
and Soviets from Vlassov+s army; and a few Poles, Rumanians, and
Italians.
3. All war criminals were previously handed over to their governments, but
the Hungarian Government, in view of the labor shortage, applied to the
Allied Commission in Budapest for permission to employ these people in
the bauxite mines. The necessary authorization was given by the
Soviet representatives.
4. The Tata mines are administered by some 50 officials from the Hungarian
Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Production, and are supervised
by a Soviet Commission (of three members) which sees that the agreed quota
of bauxite is dispatched to the Soviet Union.
Comment: No figures are available for the output of the mines, but
they are reported to be small.) 50X1-HUM
