Tovarna Lesovine in Lepenke (Pulp and cardboard plant)
1,, The Tovarna Lesovine in Lepenke (Pulp and Cardboard Plant) is in Zagrada,
south of Prevalje on the south bank of the ~.eza River, between the river
dart and the road leading to Dobja Vaso The entire site is surrounded by a
fence, It was built before the last war but in 1943 was stripped and des-
troyed by Tito partisans, After the German armistice in 1945 it was recon-
structed, enlarged and improved,, The plant is now under the 3Vrisdiction of
the Slovene Ministry of Light-Industry and is directed and controlled by the
State Timber Cooperative in Maribor. It produces cardboard and pulp (cellu-
lose) with a capacity of 1i carloads per week. Lumber and rasa materials are
received through the State Timber Cooperative in Maribor and drawn from un-
specified domestic resources
All machinery in the plant is electrically driven. Current is supplied by
the Valenje Slovene State power plant?
The mill actually be-an producing in 1927, It now has eighty employees and
operates in two eight-hour shifts.
