July Monthly Report
Bangkok Bureau
A. Non-Expendable Property Received:
None
B. Items of Engineering Interest:
1. Early in the month the 3 MHz low-pass filters in the new
Delta SRMC-1X10 multicouplers were exchanged for 3 MHz high-pass
filters. The 3 MHz high-pass filters can now be used in series
with the 30 MHz low-pass filters thereby offering additional trancient
protection for the amplifier. The swap seems to be doing the job
since we have had no multicoupler failures since installing the
new filters.
2. Based on a suggestion given bureau assistant engineer Veera
Sweangsugdi during his June TDY at Okinawa Bureau, all Extel ASR
keyboards were modified early in the month to facilitate teletyping
adherence to MIDAS keying procedures. The same modification--involving
moving the blank key to the unused bell key--was later recommended for
all bureaus by FEB/ED.
3. The Shell House shop area was rearranged to provide more
work space. With the conversion to Extel machines and cassette
recorders two large storage cabinets that were formerly used to
store teletype and IBM parts were removed and other cabinets were
located, thus gaining much needed space.
4. A door was installed between two monitor booths during
the month. This was necessary because of the expanded Cambodian
sections's need for another booth and the unavailability of one
near the existing Cambodian booths.
