1. (S/D) SIGNIFICANCE: THIS IS THE LARGEST SINGLE DEPLOYMENT
OF SOUTH AFRICAN HELICOPTERS OBSERVED IN ANGOLA.
2. (S/D) REMARKS: SOUTH AFRICAN HELICOPTERS DEPLOYED AT
NGIVA AIRFIELD ON INCLUDE SIX PUMA AND FOUR
ALLOUETTE III. ONE KUDU LIGHT OBSERVATION AIRCRAFT IS ALSO
PRESENT.
(S/D) NGIVA AIRFIELD, APPROXIMATELY 20 NM NORTH OF THE
ANGOLAN/NAMIBIAN BORDER., IS CURRENTLY BEING USED IN SUPPORT
OF A. SOUTH AFRICAN GROUND AND AIR INCURSION INTO SOUTHERN
ANGOLA'S CUNENE PROVINCE.
3. (S) COORDINATES 17-02-40S 015-41-25E.
