OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL
Monday - I August 1966
1.1 I Returned to Laura Elder in the office of
Representative John S. Monagan, (D., Conn.) a constituent letter which
was inadvertently forwarded to the Agency with other correspondence.
2. I I Asked for a copy of the transcript
of last Friday's hearings before Senate Foreign Relations Committee but
was informed by Art Kuhl, Chief Clerk, that this transcript fell within
the Committee rule rohibiting its going out of their office. After further
consultation with fthis decision was confirmed.
4. Received a call from Doug Baldwin,
Assistant to Senator war i pson, (R., Wyo.), who requested a
copy of Part I of the unclassified FBIS publication "Broadcasting Stations
of the World". This was provided by FBIS and forwarded to the Senator's
office in the afternoon.
5. I I Talked with Representative Barratt
O'Hara, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Africa of House Foreign Affairs
Committee. Also present was the staff man, Robert F. Brandt. Mr. O'Hara
discussed the delegation of African students who had met with the Subcom-
mittee in which activities of CIA in Africa were raised. I explained that
we would notbe able to discuss such activities and gave him the reasons
for this. Mr. O'Hara said he fully understood and after discussion, he said
he would very much like to have the Agency brief on the danger spots in
Africa. This meeting was set for 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, 4 August in
room H 227 of the Capitol.
6. I I Delivered to Mr. Charles Dunn, in the
office of Representative Leslie rends, Agency employee brochures and
