The DCI China Activities Coordinator 2. The COMOR has been reorganized (and renamed COMIREX) to encompass the coordination of photographic activities including targeting, collection, processing and exploitation. Under the direction of COMIREX, considerable progress is being made in the various activities which were pinpointed in the JIIRG report. 3. Mapping, Charting and Geodesy Study A mapping, charting and geodesy study has been undertaken to determine the intelligence inputs, including the NRP. to that program and to apportion as practicable the intelligence requirements for the end product in relation to the operational and other requirements. The study group is being chairmanned by a member of the NIPE staff with participation by CIA and DIA. This study should be completed about 1 November. 4. Intelligence Collection Against North Vietnamese POL Situation (CCPC-D-13f . 29 July 196r) The DOD requested as a matter or urgency that the CCPC look into the problem of intelligence collection of North Vietnam's POL situation. The CCPC submitted a report to DIA for the Secretary of Defense on the all-source capability and potential to collect intelligence against the key POL targets in North Vietnam. S. bombing strikes against such supplies. The study also covered various actions that had been taken by collectors to enhance the intelligence coverage of this target. 5. Review of Ways to Improve Intelligence Collection Related to NVA/Viet Con Use of Cambodian Territory a. In response to a request from the Joint Chiefs of Staff the CCPC made an examination of the intelligence collection capability against the NVA/Viet Cong Use of Cambodian Territory in support of North Vietnam operations against South Vietnam and submitted its findings to the USIB in a report dated 23 February 1966 (CCPC-D-6/66). A follow-up review of the development of clandestine resources reporting on this target was made to USIB (USIB-b-64. 6/36) on 18 August 1966 with the conclusion that both DOD and CIA had appreciably increased their clandestine capability against the target. b. In June 1967 CINCPAC requested that the CCPC examine further the intelligence coverage of the use by the Viet Cong of Cambodian territory, with particular emphasis on seaborne cargoes arriving at the Port of Sihanoukville. The response forwarded to CINCPAC by DIA covered substantive views on the current state of our knowledge of the use of Cambodia in the support Approved For Release 200 / E1 =RDP82MOO531 R000800080008-5 Approved For Release 2005/06/09 : CIA-RDP82M00531 R000800080008-5 -4- of enemy forces in South Vietnam, as well as an updating of the report of clandestine coverage of Cambodia aimed at obtaining information concerning the nature and extent of that use. 6. 5IGIN T Tar etin . A study was initiated by the CCPC in June in response to the following question which was agreed to by the Secretary of Defense and the DCI. 25X1 This study is now in the early developmental phase, the first steps dealing with. a determination of the U. S. interests in the countries of the world and the development of a reporting format for collection of the information necessary to enable the final assessments to be made. 7. Intelligence Collection Against the Soviet ABM Program In February 1967 the CCPC updated the previous report to USIB on the various collection activities against the Soviet ABM problem, producing an extensive inventory of all such activities.
