seven Soviet destroyers coming from the direction 25X1
of Porkkala and passing at high speed on an east er1 course were sighted
in the Gulf of Finland. When heaving into sight
The destroyers were of identical type. They had two smoke stacks. There
was a high mast on the foredeck and a short one aft,
the destroyers put up a smoke screen and left a brown oily
layer on the water surface from which thick yellow wisps of fog developed,
[::A Comment, The vessels cannot be identified. A concentration of such
a large number of destroyers in the Gulf of Finland was observed for the
first time. The vessels possibly were minesweepers of the Polukhin Class
rather than destroyers.
