The Kubrat State Security and Militia hes.dquarters are located in a 3-story building approximately 100 meters east of the Eastern Orthodox Church on Savin Street in the eastern quarter of the townL.. The State Security occupies offices on the first floors while the Militia occupies offices on the second floor. There are "a number" of cells in the basE-went. 2. The Kubrat post office, which was constructed in 1950, occupies a 2-story building, 15 by 25 meters in size, in the center of the town. 3. Kubrat receives its electric power from Fuse. A transformer station, four meters z ,ware, located in the center of the town, services the area. 4. The telephone exchange is located in the post office building. Transportation 5. There are five roads leading out from Kubrat, as follows: CLASSIFICATION Kubrat-Ruse, approximately 55 kilometers; b. Kubrat-Tutrakan, approximately 30 to 35 kilometers; c. (N4332 E2644), approximately 50 kilometers; and Kubrat-Ses:t.av (N4352 E2644), eight kilometers.. With the exception of the Kubrat Tutrakan highway, which is in a state of disrepair these roads are in-good condition. They are all-weather roads, six meters wide, flanked by drainage ditches 50 centimeters deep and 60 to 100 centimeters wide. The surface is of crushed rock 20 centimeters thick over a base of large rocks. All roads are used for both passenger and freight traffic. Although Kuhrat is allegedly becoming increasingly important as an agricu:L- tural center, there are no railroad lines in the immediate vicinity of the city and no plans-for a railway have been'formulated, The nearest lines are the Ruse.-Gara Samuel-Kaspichan and the Gara Samuil-lsperikh, both of which are used mainly for freight traffic. The Gara Samuil-Isperikh line, which was completed in 1949, is the first section of the projected Gara Samuil-isperikh-Sil.istra line Gorichevo Agricultural Cooperative In 1948, a TKZS (Trudovo Kooperativno Ze'medelsko Stopanstvo; Labor Coopera- tive Agrarian Farm) was organized in Gorichevo (N4351 E2627). One hundred families of the 250 families in the village are members; however, the TKZS farms more land than do the 150 independent farmers. The machinery used by the village TKZS is borrowed from the State Machine Station in Kubrato 1.0.. The Gorichevo cooperative grows wheat, b4arley, rye, corn, oats, millet, sun- flowers, beans, potatoes, sugar beets, cotton,,, poppies, and, in 1.951, tobacco also.. In 1.951, 'th1k members each received three kilograms of wheat, one to five kilograms of rye, and an unspecified amount of beans &nd sunflower seed oil for each work day.
