THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
In January 1952, during the five-anti movement, vessels of four shipping companies
which operated on the West River and its tributaries were confiscated by the
Chinese Communist Government and placed under the control of the West River.
Navigation Bureau (boo /3068/5300/2814/x?619/3810/1444).1 The companieq?were the
Yueh Kuei (4727/2710) Kwangtung-Kwangsi,'Pearl River, and Ho Li (0678/0448)
Navigation Companies. The vessels confiscated were as follows.

The term ueh Kuei" is commonly referred to as the provinces of Kwangtung (Yueh)
and Kwangsi (Kuei) and this office believes that the Yueh Kuei.Company and the
Kwangtung-Kwangsi Navigation Company are idendical.
