There were 90 men in the geodetic section, only two of whom
professedto beCommunist Party adherents. Others in this group
had previously been Communists, but at present are so dis-
gusted with the state of affairs that they no longer pay in
their required ;..clues, or do anything except act passively
with respect to Communist Party functions.
Zeiss Jena is experiencing many material, financial and labor
difficulties, and since the workers do not particularly like
their present situation, they do not apply themselves to their
work with the zeal they formerly displayed for the pre-war
and wartime Zeiss organization. The same system of premiums
applies to the directors and foremen of the Zeiss Jena or ani-
