2. On 21 July 1952, a German construction engineer arrived at the Soviet construc-
tion unit near V etrnarnsdorf0 The en ineer was employed by a firni'vihich was

charged with the laying of a spur tracks 15.6 km long, extending from a point
south of Vogel sang railroad station toward the east, south of Grunewal.dd

F-I 14 on a July 1.952, the chief of the personnel section of the Dran_denburg Lau-
union requested 3,000 worl.ers, such as reasons; concrete v rlrers, carpenters.,
diggers and hodrion, from Prenz1au labor oyfice for a construction project
in the .ohc enick-Vogelsang; area. The request was to be approved in writing
by the appropriate ministry. The constr Lion project which was designated
Soviet Army Project included concrete installations for an airfield. Brick
quarters for the rrorliers and shops for the trade and consumers organizations
were to bo erected first. Construction work was to start on 9 and 10 July,
but this date could not be net because of a shortage of work,erss.. The laborers
required few the construction of the brick quarters were to be provided up to

railroad station was to be established.

observed at Buchholz, l'iahltirinicel, `ietzow and Schoenhauser Da a, whore airfields
without hard-surface runways are under construction. However, the length of the
airfields would be suitable for modern jet aircraft. Pro,a the total size of the
Jagen the airfield would cover an area 700 x 2,650 r,nters.
