The Macao-Canton road, opened to traffic in July 19519 be ins from Portas Do Cerco9 Tawangmiao (1129/3769/1680) on the other side of the rivers the road runs through Chinchiehchu (6855/2720/0731)9 Taling (1.1.29 1.5.5)9 Taliang (113-169 22.4.9)9 Koueip>aanhai (2710/3961/3189)9 Lunchiad (023/3330)9 and Tango (113-l2,9 22-52). 3. The road continues northward for 3 miles to Jungchi (113=189 2216). At this point the river is 980 feet wide. There are no ferries here and the crossing is made by small motor boats; bus passengers are obliged to change. From Macao,, and runs northward through Ts 1 uiwei (113-309 22-l6) and Waichiehyung (1120/3954/31196) to__Shiuchi.ehtgou (3055/2066/7333). At Shuichieht'2'ou there is a wooden bridge 200 feet long and 23 feet wide capable of takin loads of up to 5 tons. The road then runs eastward to Kuantang (113-329 22-22) where it turns northward, following the coast to Yaik'ou (113-329 22-28) and Nanlang (Q589/'334), and westward to Shihch9i (113-269 2256). At Shihchui, the river is crossed to Changchou (7022/3166) by,a 240-foot pontoon bridge for pedestrians and light vehicles up to a max:Lmu n of 3 tons. Heavy vehicles can be towed across but this is seldom done,, and passengers are obliged to change busses. The pontoon bridge is drawn at 6 pm. daily to allow the passage of river traffic. 2. From Changchou the road runs nearly straight to Hsiaolan (113-11,9 2210) through the following villages,. Shalan (3097/5t156),9 SShihliuching .(0577/0362/0282)9 Tsaotan (5335/0982)9 Junghsing (2837/5281)9 Chiling (7179/L.705)9 and Yuanwei (5940/1344/0953)0 . At Yuanwei there is a wooden bridge 160 feet long and. 22 feet wide capable of taking loads up to 5 tons. The road continue's through Kaochi (7559/4480) to Henghai (2897/3189) on the bank of the river at Hsiaolan0 Here motor cars are ferried across to Shakuou (3097/0656). The road passes through Tunghai (2639/3109),9 Paikungtsaun (4101/0361/2625) and Anlotsgun (11.2.129 22-l1.) to Taao (1129/0991)9 then to Chiaok"ou (3330/0656) by a 25O-foot pontoon bridgev .,-A ,.t,4- 4- 7-4 .,L.,.... The road then goes through Tsounhsinchu,g Chgentswun9 Wenhai9 and Shihchous over a 100--foot pontoon bridge to Peingchou (1627/3166). The road passes through two small vi_llagesp Chihkang (6375/1511) and Hsilang (6007/5334)9 to Paihaotung (401/ 7729/3159)9 the bus terminus. The river is crossed by motor junks to Paihsienku (4101/9165/3011) from where the road continues up the Band to central Canton. Canton-Huahsien and Canton-Tseunghua Highways 5. The Canton-Huahsien (113-18,, 23-29) road is 26 miles long and is a continuation of the Chiehfang (6013/2397) Road which leads out of Canton. The composition of the road is concrete from Canton to the CantonnHankow Railway crossing.9 and a mixture of earths sand and ballast from that point to Huahsierl, The entire road is motorable, flat and in good condition. Of the two roads that branch off east to the White Cloud Airteid9 the southern road is of asphalt and was closed to civilians as of May 1952. The airfield is about 350 yards from the road 7. The Jenho Bridge which crosses th* Liuchi River is 200 feet long and 15 feet wide (for single traffic only). The supporting pillars are of concrete and the road- way is built of planks on wooden crosspieces. There are no railings, 8e There is_a motorable road from Lienhoshih (5114/0735/1479) through Tganghsia (2768/1115)9 Huangtsoun (112529 23-56)9 Yaot?ai (3852/0669)9 and Hsiamaotseun (1115/5403/2625) to Huangshih (7806/4258), The Shihching (4258/0064) Arsenal is about three miles along the route from Lienhoshih, 9. The Cantos Ts?unghua highway is approximately 55 kilometers long and sufficiently wide for two--way traffic. The composition of the road is a mixture of earth, sand and ballast. The road is in a poor state of repair. From T'aihoshihfl (113-209 2318) a motorable road runs west to join the Canton?Huahsien highway. At Chiehkiou (5894/0656) there is a concrete bridge 300 feet long and 20 feet wide which spans the Liuchi River. 10.
