They are based on the statistics supplied by individual Land Ministries or Departments of Health. The Laender receive their statistics from irdividuaZ,.,Kr 4' 2. The statistics are classified as.;rsecret from Land level upwards. 3. The accuracy of the statistics. (a) The statistics in the Land and Central Ministries are accurate versions of the reports received by them. (b) Occasionally, individual doctors may glect to report very light infections, to avoid the form-filling involved. T ese infections include.. Poliomyelitis. the outbreak this year has been of a particularly mild form of poliomyelitis, and it is certain that numbers of very mile, infections have not been reported. Diphtheria and typhoid: these statistics should be reasonably correct. Scarlet fever: i'gljt infections are often not reported by individual doctors.
