In early June,,, T rth Korean Em~assy personnel in Peipiri 'stated that the Chinese
Communist goverent has definitely decided it will not sign a Korean truce
until the Formo l problem is solv4d and Communist China ' given United Nations
membership. The North Korean Embassy personnel also stated that the USSR
promised Communist China to support this stand at the time Chino; entered the
Korean wary and that if the United Nations does not agree to Chinese Communist
demands, Chinese. Communists will.delay the Korean truce talks as long as possible.
In early June. Piping Communist circles believed.a (a) he United States
government interi.s to speed up Japanese rearmament; (b) the war were to
be extended to China, Japanese military leaders could mmobilize three million
troops within 3 months for such a move4
In early June, the Northeast People's Liberation Army was building up fast and
ready to move to the Korean front..
