And on Chilean radios of ia.-Ieus difficulties being encountered by the
present leadership of the PCCh.* These reports centered around the
supposed displacement c.f Gal o Gonzalez Diaz as PCCh, Secretary-,General by
Volodia Teitelboim Vcylrs~t,s~_, and also around a re-ported attempt by Reinaldo
Nunez and Luis Rei.rose Alvare to soli the Party. The articles also
indicated that Cesar Gcdoy Urrutia, Chilean Communist leader recently
returned from the USSRq bo:,r?e i.mpo.r::ant instructions from the Kremlin which
would have a profound effe :?t, on the adership and futu:: y status of the PCCh.
2. It has now been learned ,-:at Teitelboim has actually been named Secretary-
General of the Frente del Tieh.i.o, a polit _cai alliance backing the presidential
candidacy of Senator Salvador Allende Gossens y and not of the PCCh, of which
Galo Gonzalez Diaz continues to he Secretary-General. Source also reports
that Reinal.do Nunez, re -a-red to in the press as an expelled Communist leader,
has not been expelled from the Party, but on the contrary, is in charge of the
Electoral Comnr:ission of the Frente del Puebbc. As a member of the PCCh Political
Commi.ssi on, he collaborates closely with Gonzalez Diaz, many of whose tasks he
has as Fumed..
