1. The Presidium Command of Dubrovnik is headed by an unidentified major. It is
located in the former Naval Academy on the road to Cruz, close to Defense
Headquarters of the sector, which is located in a small villa on top of a
hill in the center of the clearing behind Cape Pelegrin. The Command is con-
nected telephonically with Cavtat on one side and Dubrovnik on the other,
through Dubac.
2. Cement bunkers armed with coastal artillery are located at Babiukuk Heights.
The zone is a restricted area and is surrounded by antitank mines. Bunkers
with antiaircraft artillery emplacements are located in the zone of Velika
and Male. Petka, to which access is easily had. Antipersonnel mines have been
placed in the area. All fortifications in this zone were completed at the
end of 1950.
34 Antiaircraft machine-gun emplacements are located on the heights of Mnntovi-
jerna. Unmounted antiaircraft emplacements are located on observation posts
on the Srdj Heights. The weapons are stored in a wooden warehouse at '=rue.
The zone is surrounded with antipersonnel mines. Bunkers in reinforced cement
constructed by the Germans are on the Srdj Heiphts and control both sides
of the road which leads from Dubrovnik to Kotar Bay. They were repaired and
made larger in 1950. Four of these bunkers were recently rearmed with coastal
artillery pieces of 150 and 210 (sic) millimeter !s-a-V r. The bunkers are
reached by means of a recently repaired road. From Bjelinovo to Cape Pele-
grin the zone is a restricted area. Fortification work was recently completed
at which time the units of the engineer corps were transferred east of Maribor
on the Austrian frontier. Seven bunkers for coastal artillery are locoted on
the interior side of Cape Pelegrin, and a tunnel there serves as a shelter,
4. A new highway, which leads to Sv. Petar Beach on Cape Pelegrin, con vscts the
towns of Kuperi and Blato and joins the new highway between Dubrovnik and Kotar
Bay. Antitank defenses have been made ready in the Rijeka plains at the mouth
of a torrent, and are surrounded by antipersonnel mines. Two barracks are
being constructed along the highway just before the village of Kupari. These
barracks will house troops encamped there at the present time.

5. A warehouse containing food, equipment and portable arms munitions is in a
one-story building situated behind the building housing the KN'OJ headquarters.
Underground warehouses are located near the Church of Our Lady, at Gospino Po13e,
An underground depot carved out of rock is located on the road between Saint
Michael's Church and Sv. Ylah's Church. This warehouse contains naval.mince
and is guarded by sentinels of the militia.
6. A school for noncommissioned officers and reserve officers of the navy is
located in the Presidium Command building. Approximately 150 students are
in attendance.
7. Military Sector Headquarters established in the building formerly owned by a
certain Nozo Banae is located in the Eardeljeva area and is com ied by a cer-
tain Major Mirko. In case of mobilization, plans are presently being made
to notify concerned individuals. N'oticee.will be sent particularly to univer-
sity tts and former Royal Yugoslav Army reserve officers. This organi-
zation also administers premilitary training.

8, A marine infantry regiment, not exceeding two battalions, is quartered in the
Presidium Command building, and is commanded by the major who is in charge
of the Presidium. A marine infantry battalion attached to the aforementioned
regiment is located in three pavilions in the vicinity of the Lapad Station
and is commanded by a captain. A very long, shed located in the immediate vicinity
of the pavilic s houses two lending 'iaergess in addition to five other transport
vessels.
9. Vessels of sea borne KNOJ units in Gras port include the following:
a. PT boat commanded by a certain Ensign Zdravko;
b. PT boat commanded by a certain lksign mile Tatic; and
c. A patro oa arms With a machine gun and spotlight.
10. An artillery group, which is attached to the marine infantry, is located in the
,arrison near the Presidium Command, and is commanded by a captain. Stables
in the garrison courtyard hold approximately thirty horses and serve as shelters
for vehicles. A horse-.drawn artillery group is encamped on the slope of the
Glavica Woods, along the road which goes to Lopad, approximately two kilometers
from Dubrovruik.
11, The 11 Brigade of the 29 Hergovasko Division in quartered in approximately 15
atoms pavilions completed in 1960. They are located approximately 200 meters
from the road which runs on the slope of the Babinkak Heights.
12. An unidentified infantry unit is stationed in the former Chamber of Labor build-
ing, which is located near the trolley car line which runs between Dubrovnik
and Graz. In the courtyard there are approximately 40 mules.
13. A frontier MW battalion is located in the building formerly occupied by the
Dubrovacka Plovidba steamship lines, and is commanded by a captain.

14. There is.a radio station in an isolated villa, the property of a Hollander, on
the road between Duubrovnik and Loped. The villa is closely guarded by two
sentries and it to connected by telephone with an unidentified command in the city.
An observatory is located on Srd3 Heights. It is equipped with a radio, a tele-
graph station, a heliograph, and alhoto-electric (sic) station.
15. There is an electric power plant under construction at Mel3ine. The poles to
support high-tension wires are already in place and it is expected that the
lines will be strung during autumn of 1951. The machinery and turbines were
reportedly manufactured by the Bade Eonear factory at ?,rgreb.. The machines are
in Turkey at the present time, where they have been put on display at a sample
fair.

16. The summer residence of the Presiden'y of the Council, formerly in the Hotel
Splendid, is now in the villa of Earl Banac. The summer residence of UDB
is in the foveae Hotel Vie. The summer residence of the Government of Bosnia-
Herzegovina is in the former Hotel Eomodor, On arriving from Dubrovnik, prior
to reaching the above residences, there was a road block which permitted only
authorized persons to continue. A hundred meters behind the residences there
was another road block.

1?, The Sector Command for Coastal Defense and the Naval Base Command are on
the ship formerly called HTAR, which is stationed in the Gulf. Commander
of the Sector Command Is Lt. Col. Drink. Tolic, who recently returned from a
military course which he frequented at war school (Visa Vojna Skola), Tolio
and other superior officers are presently in the military hospital in Huniscnc
(near Zagreb) as a result of an automobile aooident.
18, There are two tunnels carved out of rook along the bay coast just before Makarska
when coming from Split. The tunnels have an opening measuring approximately
six by ten meters and are separated from each other by a distance of approximately
fifty meters. The tunnels are located near the Hotel Miramare to the right of
the entrance to the port and are at sea level, which leads to the conclusion
that they will serve as shelters for PT boats,
19., An underground depot carved out of rock is located on the shore of the lake
near Rogoznica. The entrance is approximately five meters in width and thirty
motors in length, This depot, initiated by the Germans, is now in the last
stages of construction.
20. Approximately thirty T-34 tanks, which have been assigned to this zone, were
noted near the railway station,
21. The port of Fardeljevo will reportedly become a military port. For this purpose
five million diners have been appropriated for repairs to port facilities
and installations. Metkrwio will become a commercial port,
22. The Presidium Command on Zdenov Street is commanded by Major General Miloje
Milojevic, In autumn 1950, the majority of Command personnel was transferred
from Belgrade to the vicinity of Bosnia where it still is, and only a skeleton
staff was retained in Belgrade.

be tested in the railroad station at Belipotok (near Belgrade) where it is be-
ing installed. It will then be produced in the railroad factory of Subotica
and Crvenj Kret, The instrument is reported to be very useful despite its
simplicity and permits a surer and quicker switching of trains at a distance by

28, The 2 Proletarian Infantry Division lis commanded by major General 25X1
Bade Petrovic, In May and June 1949 the entire division was transferred from
Bitolj (Macedonia) to Proknplje, where it is still located. Regiment. which
are attached to 2 Proletarian Infantry Division according to their location
in Macedonia are as follows:

30. The 4 Krajiska Infantry Division is presently commanded by Lt, Col. Peter
Matic. Political Commissar is Mirko Vranic, The division was formerly
stationed at Vaijevo. It is believed that the division's regiments vaWe
distributed throughout the zone of Valjevo aim follows:
a. 3 Nraj iska Fusilier Regiment, at Oorni Milanovac;
b. 5 Krajiaka P eilier Regiment, at Uzicka, Pozega;
c. 6 Rrajieka Fusilier Regiment, at Ovcar-l ablar;
d. An unidentified artillery regiment at Vaijervo; and
ea. An unideentUtied communications battalion at Valjevo, commanded by
Captain MihaJlo Raca.
A frontier regiment not attached to the division is presently stationed in
the Yaljeevo barracks. It is assumed that 4 Division's regiments have taken
the place of 2 Division's regiments,

Second lieutenants are in command. of the mine sweepers. During the period
16 to 26 August 19519 inclusive, combined maneuvers with the air force took
place for the purpose of lending the Nerestvaaneki Canal from attacks coming
from the west. At the end of the ewe*cise on 26 August 1951, the fleet
headed toward Split.

on rabber wheels, and having long barrels.
61. A new road was recently constructed which goes from Koaisa to the area of cap's
Stupisce to the east. It is completely hidden from aerial observation, since
it passes through numerous tunnels which are furnished with apertures
on the sea. These apertures aid in ventilation and the defense of the tunxiels.
62. your bunkers are being constructed on the slope which dominates Cape Stupiece
in a southerly direction. Approximately 150 meters to the east of the bunkers,
construction of other unidentified defenses is taking place.,
63. Portification of the south coast of the Island is being intensified. Tran orta4
tion of material for construction purposes in the bays of Duboks,, Stinica, Srebrena,
Bukovao and other localities was observed, In the months of June, July and August
1950, at least 100 wagons of cement arrived from Split at Basis., traxtsported via
sea by a certain Tomic of Via, to the aforementioned bays.
64. Approximately three months ago, fortifications were begun in 0 3aima Bay at
the northern end of the Island. Other projects are in progress on the cape to the
right of the entry to Ok33e Bay, as is true of the zone situated to the left
of the same entrance. Approximately 200 soldiers work on a 24-hour basis-
Fortifications are being constructed in Slating Bay on the slopes which dominate
the entry. fortifications are being constructed in the northwestern zone of Port
Sveti Iura, in the vicinity of the Volici reefs.
65. Your bunkers care! in rook, approximately thirty motors from each other,
have been completed. A new road starting at Vie is being built in this arm
also. Work on antiaircraft artillery emplacement has been initiated in the
Pace zone to the northeast of Komiza. The Komiza.Sseti Mijovil road is being
enlarged.

Qusarica zone. Shipments of ammunition for portable arms have been obser d.
The depot is g ;rded by two sentinels. Subterranean depots for ammunition and
oom'l ietibles, completed at the end of 1950, are mAcid' short distance from
the small barrack located-in the j iva zone. A depot for cement and construe-
tion material is situated on Caps.Stupisce.
67. There is a military hospital in a buildist located approximately ,ne kilometer
to the west of the city of Via in the Samogor zone, The director is medical
Captain Zohmere There are also other officer attendants.
688.' The Section of the Military District (Vojni Otsek) to housed in the samO building

69. Au observatory equipped with .a11 signal equipment is located at Mt. Has. There
are approximately twelve sailors on daaty. An observation post, equipped with
all signal equipment, is located in the old fort above the city of Vie.
70. The Military Base Command of the Island of Vie (KOmanda Base Otoka Vie) let,
located in a big.buildinn close to the public park, approximately 150 meters
from the port. Commander is a certain Lt. Cole. R j o of the marine infantry
and a native of the Island of. Brae,, During the war, he commanded a battalion
in the 2 Dalmatian Brigade. Prom 1945 to 1947, he was sent to Russia on a
speciall study ourse. Prior to the war he was a port laborer. The politicall
commissar is a major from Montenegro.
71. There is a marine infantry battalion in the new barracks located in the Njiva
area approximately 500 meters to the north of the city of Kamiza. The,-

field telephones and wireless telegraphy sets; a medical platoon; and anti-gas

72. A 1 Fleet Command, housed in a wooden barrack in the port of Bomiza, is corns'
mended by a newly arrived second lieutenant. There are approximately ton sailors
attached. to the Command, who have the label "Narodna Odrana" (Popular Defense)
written on their berets, The Commmnd has a patrol boat, formerly of the royal
customs guards. armed with a Breda machine gun at the prow and a two?.barslled
machine gun mounted on the bridge. It also has a searchlight with a shield.
73. In Barjaeka Bay, to the south of Gape BarJiaki, a new breakwater is undergoing
construction and will be used exclusively by the Navy. Approximately 20 meters
have been completed at the present time. Sea depth here is elm or seven meters.
74. The airport on the Island of Vie is located near Lokvo. It is kept in perfect
condition, and a fair amount of air traffic arriving from the interior was ob-
served,,
75. The Coastal Artillery Central Command is located in a small villa on the road be-
tween Vie and Fort Sveti Juraj and is commanded by a amore

76., The Presidium Commmandd of Lomiza is in a new building in the t14 va son* approximately
500 meters from the city, and is commanded by a captain. The Central Command
of border troops is in a new two-story barracks on the area above Hamenica
Bay. It is commanded by a lieutenant who has sixty soldiers under his command.

77. Fortification of Bisevo Island was begun three months ago. A new road is under
construction which goes from Poije to Gelijola on the southern tip of the Islando
The Gerbuilt Polje-YMedzu orat road is undergoing repairs. It appears that
the roads will be completed in November 1982. Work is being carried out on
bunkers located on the slopes dominating the entry to Medsuporat Bay and on
Bisevvski Porat Bay in the western part of the Island,
78. A detachment of marine infantry of approximately 400 men is stationed in the
village of Poije. The Command is on the first floor of the elementary
school and to commanded by a captain, a native of kola. A part of the mili-
tary is housed in the school and another part is in the zone where the work is in
progress,
80. The so-oalled "Blue Grotto" is used as a PT boat shelter.
81. The Military District Command (Vojni Okrug) is located in a house halfway down
Gaje wa Street, and Is commanded by Lt, Col. Nato.Bra.j evic. Military District
Section 3 is on Ilica Street, Lt. Nosto,dinovic is assigned to recruiting and
premilitary trainees. Military District Section 2 (Vojni Otsek) is in a building
at the corner of Draskovioeva and Matioeva Streets on the fourth floor, and is
commanded by a certain Captain Brujinovic. Military District Section 3 is in
the r section of Zagreb and is commanded by Captain Ants Omen. Pertinent

82. The military airport is located beyond the Save River. The entire compound is
surrounded by barbed wire and is guarded, The runways are of cement and asphalt.
Two hears of different dimensions, painted an ash color, were observed. Several
officers and the following type of aircraft were moteds pursuit planes (Yak and
S49),, and two-engines p1r nes (Strmovik) o A squadron commander is a certain
Captain Miko, a native of Brae. '
83. AA artillery regiment is located in a barrack in the vicinity of the last stop
on the number 11 trolley line. Various cannon. including the Soviet ZIS type
and two large mobile searchlights were noted.

A PT boat was docked at the pier of the commercial port

85, Alongside the pier at Uljanik and facing St. Andrea Island is an old merchant
ship of 3,000 or 4,000 tons displacement. A great amount,of activity seemed
to be taking place, including a partial reconstruction of the superstructure
of the main deck.
86. About six kilometers from Pul.j on the road to 8tJek%, and immediately opposite
the Siauaa Woods,, is a large airfield which was recently completed. It replaced
a temporary airfield. Three now hangars and approximately twelve airplanes,
probably pursuit or reconnaissance airplanes, were observed. On the basis of
the large number of soldiers and workers present on the field, it appears that
work is still being carried out.,
