Major Zivko Magic from Pecinac near Hama in Serbia, and commal-zder of the 50X1-HUM
Automobile School at Maribor, received orders from=
command headquarters to transfer the entire School to Trieste in the event
of a Cominform attach, to the event of
such an attack he would not comply with this order, but would move to the 50X1-HUM
assistance of the Soviets, together with those of his officers of identical
sympathies. Any of his men who opposed his decision would be, shot by his
own hand. 50X1-HUM
2. In references to the United States. Gagic expressed himself most unfavorably,
adding that the West is mistaken in its thinking that Yugoslav Comimsnists
would fight the Soviet Union. It is alleged that Gagic's opinions and thoughtm
are shared by the majority of officers in the Yugoslav Army.
3. It is reported that the Automobile School at Maribor was transferred to
Ilirska 8istrica during the summer of 1951 for security reasons and that,
in connection with this, Tito bad exaggerated the imminence of the danger and
provided for the transfer at an opportune moment. Other units on the northern
and eastern borders are reportedly included in the plan for transfer to the
interior and western part of Yugoslavia.
4. General Ivan Sibl, Political Commissar at Yugoslav Army Headquarters at Zagreb,
is reported to have concepts identical to those of Major Gagic. Upon one
occasion, he stated that above all he was a Communist, and that he would
never surrender alive to the Americans but would, as other true Communists,
Join the Soviet armies in the event of war. General Sibl is reportedly one
of the more important political commisears in the Yugoslav Army, and was
promoted to the rank of general during 1951,
