SUBJECT Location of the Securitate General Staff
1. The General Staff of the Securitate is stationed in Timisoara. The police
operations are directed by General Gheorghe Pintilie (his true name is Mitea
Bodnarenko)? This General is a Russian originally from Chilia - Noua (Bessarabia)
He is a former tobacco-worker from Chilia - Noua. He was sentenced to 15 years
in prison for his Communist activities prior to the Communist Regime,
2. Two years ago he was promoted to general and put in charge of the Police. His
chauffeur is a Soviet officer who is dressed in civilian clothes and is there to
watch the General's activities,,
