Vessels
The DDR. has at its disno gal a total of 1500-2000 vessels (prams, tugs, etc.).
The prams are divided into two classes:
"A" - open
"A" - covered
The largest vessels (Dder-Ykas Kahn) are 1000-1200 Gross Registered Tonnage,
and axe informant estimates that there are 3CO-350 of this type. The largest
number of prams are 100-6010 Gross Registered Tonnage.
About 751 of the vessels are not self-propelled. All grams under 250 tons
are self-propelled. ?2aximum draft of the prams is 2 meters fully loaded.
It is the responsibility of Arbeitsgemeinschafft Schiffsfahrt to maintain and
replace the vessels. For this purpose the Gemsinschaft controls a number of
small shipyards (mainly river yards), including the following: Lauenbu?g,
Uokerm aide, Anklam and Dcmnitz.
