and references. The Continental Operations Depart-
ment (cob) was set up in late 1950 to coordinate Nationalist guerrilla
activities on the mainland; it is relatively inexperienced as far as
intelligence is concerned. It has no known intelligence system, although
it does have a small G-2 section. Technically under the i, inistry of
National Defense (-IND), the COD has a degree of access to intelligence
procured by the PJND. The COD is considered to be an instrument of CHIANG
Ching-kuo, although CHENG Kai-min is its legal head,
